Balloon Classic

This morning we all walked down the street for the Balloon Classic. There were about 100 balloons in the air. With the mountains in the background, it is an incredible site that happens every labor day. Ruthie loved it.

I must be reading the wrong bible, apparently Clifford the Big Red Dog was in the Ark. When you combo God and Clifford, both my girls get excited!
The balloons would drop down and drag their baskets in the water and the crowd would cheer.
That would be a lady bug with the legs dangling over the water.

The Little Things

We got some free stickers in the mail and you would have thought we hit the jackpot.  Ruthie played with them for about an hour.  They eventually lost their stickiness and Ruth lost her interest, but it was free fun delivered right to our doorstep.
(Yes...I still have the 4th of July plant decoration out.)

What a great day...a tea party, a friend and Goldfish.

Manpacking Trip

We are crossing a huge area of aspen trees that were destroyed by an avalanche.
This is the "Grilled Cheese Posse" (boys that eat free grilled cheese sammies in our student ministry building each Tuesday)
This was the view from my "bed" one night under the tent.
Shane and the mountain gangsta
13,500 over the saddle with all of our gear. I almost died. We stayed in the valley called Alpine Gulch which is behind us.
Collin and I have a rough job.

                           Yes..snow in August.

Cell Phone from the Big Apple

My sister, Debbie, went to New York City and bought Ruthie a new cell phone.  It is a Cinderella phone no less and makes tons of "beautiful" noises.  Ruthie loves it!!
Thanks Aunt Ebbie!

Eating Habits

Lately Ruthie has been rubbing her face while eating pasta.  We will definitely need to break this little habit.  Click on the picture to see the damage close up.  I am surprised it didn't actually get in her eyes.

Play-Doh

Grandma Guthrie bought Ruthie some Play-Doh at the beach and I got her a ton of plastic cookie cutters at a yard sale for 75 cents.  What fun!!!!!

Colorado Heat

For the last 2 weeks Colorado has had record heat.  It has been in the mid 90's which is pretty hot when you don't have an ocean to jump in.  Like most people here we do not have air conditioning, so we have been cranking up several fans.  Here is Ruthie cooling off before bedtime.  It is supposed to get a lot cooler this week.
